Anime Review:
Kuroshitsuji II Special #1: Ciel in Wonderland

What this is about: I made the promise that I would review every new subtitled anime show (excluding blatant yaoi and/or porn) released during the Spring, Summer and Fall 2010 seasons, so now I am going back to review a handful of shows that I missed over the past few months for one reason or another. This time around, it’s Ciel in Wonderland, an original video animation series based on Kuroshitsuji II, the first episode aired on October 27, 2010.

tl;dr review: Ciel follows Sebastian down the rabbit-hole; cringe-worthy Alice in Wonderland parody.

Episode Summary: Ciel is bored out of his skull, until he sees Sebastian running away with rabbit ears and a tail. He follows after him, where he ends up in a fantasy world, where the people he knows play the role of various Lewis Carroll characters from Alice in Wonderland. Ciel ends up in a tea party with door-mouse Elizabeth who grows huge; gets all dolled up in a fancy dress and goes dancing with a great deal of embarrassment; is a kitchen-maid that is assaulted by pepper and turns into the Eiffel Tower.

My Thoughts: First of all, I checked out the first three episodes of Kuroshitsuji II and decided the show was intolerably bad, vaguely yaoi-leaning and thoroughly confusing. As for this special…well…I suppose if you happen to *like* Kuroshitsuji, AND are whacked out of your freakin’ mind on mushrooms or something, you might find this interesting. No need for any sort of in-depth review, this is intended exclusively for people who are already hardcore fanatics of the series to begin with, and if that’s the case you’re going to watch this P.O.S. no matter what I say about it.

The verdict: – Wondering why I watched this in the first place, I was already 99% sure I was going to hate it before I even started.

The last of the un-reviewed 2010 shows, I swear!: Beelzebub OVA, Bakugan Gundalian Warriors (Removed from the list because it’s available in English dubbed format only, no subtitled format. I did watch it, though, and it’s *awful*, and the dub is excrutiatingly painful), Chi’s Sweet Home OVA, Detective Conan Magic File 4, Detective Conan OVA: Kid in Trap Island
