Kakko Kawaii Sengen Episode 1

What this is about: Watching all of the anime shows so you don’t have to! For more information about me and my reviews, click here for details on what I am reviewing.

Series Premise: Kakko Kawaii Sengen is a set of four 3-minute-long shorts based on a gag manga strip, which aired during November, 2010. Kao-chan is the most popular and beautiful girl in school…and she plans to keep it that way.

Episode description: Kao-chan is easily the most beautiful as well as the most popular girl in high school…and she knows it. Purposely playing up her “moe” act, she has all the guys tied around her finger…until there is gossip about another girl in another class. Sensing a rival, Kao-chan makes sure the new girl knows her place.

My Impressions: Well, earlier today I reviewed something that was a single, wordless short that was only two minutes long, followed by a series that was comprised of a bunch of thirty second shorts. And now I come to a four-part series of three-minute shorts — and for the third time, I must say, it ain’t worth the effort.

I understand the intentionally-ugly artwork is done for comedic value — but to hold up some shapeless character that could just as easily have been drawn by Don Martin is not exactly what I would call the epitome of beauty. But putting the entirely aside, that certainly does not also explain the poor excuse for “jokes” in this little comedy skit, which involve Kao-chan face-planting into desk on purpose, and repeatedly spitting on the rival girl. Classy.

Just like I said above, this is simply not worth the effort. Instead, you’re better off link-chaining through videos on Youtube to see whatever the latest nonsense the otaku over at Nico Nico Douga have managed to throw together.
