What this is about: Watching all of the anime shows so you don’t have to! For more information about me and my reviews, click here for details on what I am reviewing.

Series Premise: Yondemasu-yo, Azazel-san or “You Are Being Summoned, Azazel” is a weekly anime television series that started in April 2011, based on a comedy manga by Yasuhisa Kubo. Rinko is the young assistant to a detective that can summon demons, who unknowingly finds herself bound in a contract with the minor demon Azazel.

ep. tl;dr review: Salamander demon brainwashes Rinko; Akutabe adds new Jealousy demon to his bag of tricks.

Episode Summary: Um. Howzabout this for setting the bar very low and damning with faint praise: Well at least they didn’t use gross-out fart and poop jokes this time around. Ehhhhhh.

I actually *do* like the characters, I actually *do* think the comedic timing is just about perfect for a wacky, slapstick show — as long as it stays away from crap like ‘eating poop’ (e.g. the last episode, ew), I’m fine with it. And that’s about all I have to say this time around.

The verdict: – Oh Rinko, you so crazy!

Sampling of Online Reviews:

  • “This episode was a lot funnier than episode 2, and it’s also one that will continue into episode 4. It now seems to be branching out into other styles of comedy (whereas episode 2 was mostly focusing on shock/grossout humour), and these are working quite well for it. Grade: 4/5.” – Moeronpan
  • “This is not exactly the next Seirei no Moribito or Ghost Hound for Production I.G. to proudly place in their historical record. No, it’s ten minutes of sheer gross-out stupidity – kind of like an anime version of “The Aristocrats” played out with demons. But it’s undeniably funny if you have a high enough threshold for tastelessness. ” – Lost in America
