Chi’s Sweet Home Special
What this is about: I made the promise that I would review every new subtitled anime show (excluding blatant yaoi and/or porn) released during the Spring, Summer and Fall 2010 seasons, so now I am going back to review a handful of shows that I missed over the past few months for one reason or another. This time around, it’s Chi’s Sweet Home, a special original animated DVD episode, about 15 minutes long, that was bundled with one of the manga volumes on April 23, 2010.
tl;dr review: Chi gets a new collar; Chi makes a friend.

Episode Summary: Chi’s family decides to get her a new collar, and while they are fiddling with the new collar, she runs off. Chi wanders to a playground, and meets up with another cat, who feels his territory is threatened. Clueless Chi, however, interprets it as playing around, and they chase each other all over the place. Chi returns home, where they manage to put on the collar, much to Chi’s great dismay. But she forgets about the collar after a few seconds, once distracted with something else.
My Thoughts: What’s not to like about Chi’s Sweet Home? It has a cute kitten, after all, and there’s over 200 episodes to watch! Well, I’ll tell you: each episode is a grand TWO MINUTES LONG. I’m not a fan of the short-short format, and when I tried the series out a couple years ago, I quickly lost interest. However, this longer format (15 minutes) works better, and if there were more specials like this, it would be worth watching.
The last of the un-reviewed 2010 shows, I swear!: Beelzebub OVA, Detective Conan OVA: Kid in Trap Island
